February saw the return of one of our favourite annual events, National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) – and what an action-packed seven days it was. National Apprenticeship Week in numbers
Four arcade games
Get ready to play… Amazing Apprenticeships launched a suite of interactive games that provide a fun way for you to learn about apprenticeships from home.
(Forty) three industry leaders
Jaguar? Tick. Network Rail? Tick. Amazon? Tick… NAW’s events lineup featured some of the boldest names in business, allowing participants to hear first-hand what they’re looking for in an apprenticeship applicant. Luckily, you can watch all 43 on demand.
Two Bucks Skills Hub webinars
We teamed up with Speakers for Schools to host, not one, but two online Q&As with local organisations. The first saw current apprentices from Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust and BAM Construction talk about careers in Healthcare, Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction, and the second explored apprenticeships in Computing, Digital and Creative industries with Cisco, Softcat and Screen Skills.
One UCAS announcement
In an exciting announcement on Monday 6th February, UCAS revealed that it’s expanding its service to allow young people to search and apply for apprenticeships, as well as degrees.
Launching this autumn, the new site will help put technical and vocational education on an equal footing with traditional academic routes and allow thousands of students to benefit from a wider choice of options. Bravo!
